Grace Disgraced Today as Peace Spoil the Party on Final Day

Grace FC finished the regular season as league leaders, but Peace FC made sure they did not finish it smiling.

Peace produced the surprise result of Matchday 10, defeating Grace 4–2 in an entertaining, end-to-end contest on Saturday, July 18.

Delight inspired the victory with two goals and an assist. He converted a penalty following a handball, set up Augustus Ezre and later won the foul that allowed Yinka to score Peace’s second penalty. Biggy assisted Delight’s second goal.

Grace’s brightest moment belonged to Samuel Oyebamiji, a natural goalkeeper who has spent much of the season filling in between the posts for different teams. This time, he found himself at the other end of the field and opened the scoring from Oscar’s assist.

In an interview shared on the league’s WhatsApp group, Samuel dedicated the goal to “God Almighty, my wife and my child.” His wife and child were at the field to watch the memorable moment.

Charles scored Grace’s other goal but was later cautioned for dissent. Sope and Andrew received yellow cards for Peace.

“One of the toughest I have done in the league,” the referee said afterward, noting that players frequently appealed for decisions. Another league member described it as “end-to-end stuff.”

Mr. Segs and Etinosa served as assistant referees, while Segun was praised for helping keep the match under control.

Earlier, Faith FC defeated Love FC 2–0 in a match played over two 25-minute halves. Love played the first half with 10 players because of a shortage, but held out until Patrick scored in the 37th minute from KC’s assist. Patrick then set up Moussa four minutes later.

Samuel was also in goal for Faith, while Osas kept goal for Love.

Light FC secured second place with a 2–0 victory over Joy FC. Femi scored both goals, first reacting quickly to finish after a through ball from Mayowa and then converting a cutback from Osas.

Grace completed the regular season with 20 points, followed by Light with 14 and Faith with 13. Joy and Love finished with 11 points each, while Peace ended with 10.

Only four points separated second place from sixth, suggesting that the playoff fixtures could be wide open.

Grace remains the team to beat, but Peace’s final-day victory showed that no result can be taken for granted. Light and Faith enter the postseason with winning momentum, while every team will be dreaming of advancing to play on the grand stage at Mosaic Stadium.

The regular season is over. The excitement is building. Now the race for the championship truly begins.
