Love FC, Grace FC and Team Peace Claim Victories on Match Day 2

Match Day 2 of the PPP Soccer League delivered another lively morning of football on May 16, 2026, as Love FC, Grace FC, and Team Peace all recorded important victories in a round marked by cold weather, wet field conditions, disciplined performances, and late drama.

The day opened with Love FC facing Light FC in chilly conditions, with the temperature around 1°C and parts of the pitch slippery from the cold morning weather. Organizers slightly delayed kick-off to allow conditions to improve and ensure player safety. When the match finally got underway, Love FC settled quickly and took control of the contest.

Kariboye opened the scoring in the 13th minute after reacting sharply to a loose rebound inside the box and slotting the ball home. Light FC tried to respond, but Love FC remained organized and difficult to break down. In the second half, Ola Daniels won a penalty after being brought down inside the 18-yard box, and Kariboye stepped up confidently to convert in the 39th minute. His second goal of the game secured a 2-0 victory for Love FC.

The match was officiated by DonSimeon, with Gbenga, Sola Awe, and Success Ademoye serving as assistant referees at different points of the game. Ibrahim Ibrahim of Love FC received the only yellow card of the match for a rough tackle, while Henry of Love FC earned special mention for securing the first clean sheet of the day.

The second game brought another competitive encounter as Grace FC came from behind to defeat Faith FC 2-1. Played in wet conditions and at a temperature of about 6°C, the match started with Faith FC showing attacking intent. Their breakthrough came in the 20th minute when Aghogho O., popularly known as Gomez, delivered a through pass from the middle of the park to Favor Osekene, who calmly placed the ball beyond the goalkeeper.

Grace FC responded after the break with determination. In the 31st minute, Daniel Emakpose reacted fastest to a parried shot and finished from close range to bring his team level. As the match moved toward its final stages, Grace FC found the winner in the 47th minute when Omohgbehin Kanmi released Michael Adeduro with a well-timed through pass. Adeduro made no mistake, finishing at the near post to complete Grace FC’s comeback.

The match, officiated by Goke with Somto and Joseph as assistant referees, ended without any yellow or red cards. However, both teams had injury concerns, with Marvin of Grace FC suffering a pulled hamstring without contact and Biggie of Faith FC rolling his ankle, also with no reported contact.

The final reported match of the day produced the most dramatic contest, as Team Peace edged Team Joy 3-2 in a physical and entertaining game. Team Peace started brightly and went ahead in the 11th minute through Charbel, who finished from a Marvin assist. The intensity rose quickly, with Izzy of Team Joy booked for unsporting conduct, while Segun of Team Peace and Etinosa of Team Joy were also shown yellow cards for tackles.

James then gave Team Peace firm control of the match with two penalties, converting from the spot in the 17th and 24th minutes. Team Joy, however, refused to give up. Chike pulled one back in the 28th minute after good work from Sesan, giving his side renewed belief. Team Peace later added another attacking moment through Elliot in the 32nd minute, assisted by Femi, while the match continued to produce heated challenges and cautions, including yellow cards to Segun, Sesan, and Success for time wasting.

By the end of the morning, Match Day 2 had delivered goals, penalties, comebacks, injuries, cards, and strong individual performances. Love FC’s clean-sheet win, Grace FC’s comeback victory, and Team Peace’s narrow triumph over Team Joy all added momentum to what is already shaping up to be a competitive and entertaining PPP Soccer League season.
