The responsibility of the captain is to ensure fairness, equality and coordination of the team and the players. Every registered player kitted and available on game day must be guaranteed some play time in his team. The captains are also responsible to collect the jerseys from the players at the end of each game. Expected qualities of a captain includes.

  • Team Leadership: Embody PPSL values and traditions, upholding a strong sense of responsibility and accountability. Accepts the decision of the officiating referee on the field and that of the planning committee as final in any case of dispute.
  • Team Management: Manage the team's WhatsApp group, conduct polls from time to time, getting majority responses before deciding on important issues. Collaborate to develop game plans and strategies. Make quick decisions, select matchday players and guide teammates during matches.
  • Lead by Example: Demonstrate a strong work ethic, punctuality, and respect for teammates, opponents, and officials.
  • Communication: Maintain a respectful and cordial language both formal and informal when communicating with teammates, officiating members and planning committee members. The captain is the middleman between his team and the planning committee. Therefore, he must communicate any issue that relates and not limited to, match day availability of players, unresolved issues, brewing issues in the team, or any assistance required to the planning committee.
  • Conflict Resolution: Mediate disputes among teammates and maintain a harmonious team atmosphere.
  • Representation: Represent the team and maintaining a positive and respectful image
  • Coin Toss: Participate in the pre-match coin toss to determine kickoff and goal defense.
