What a weekend of football it was in the PP Soccer League! On Saturday, May 24, 2025, University Park was once again the battleground as three back-to-back fixtures delivered drama, discipline, and decisive movement in the league standings. By the end of the day, Grace FC and Love FC remained unbeaten, while Light FC and Joy FC continued to chase their first points of the campaign.

The action began early at 8:00 a.m. with Love FC taking on Light FC. Love were quick to impose their attacking dominance. Osas opened the scoring, finishing off a fine move assisted by Hayzed. Light responded through a well-placed goal from Musa, but Love struck back with Tolu converting from a Segun assist to restore the lead. Osas then sealed his brace with a third for Love, assisted by Tolu, confirming a convincing 3–1 win. The match also saw several cautions: Sesan of Light received a yellow card for a rough tackle, while Love's intense pressing game earned bookings for Perfect, Tolu, and Joseph.

At 9:15 a.m., Grace FC faced Faith FC in what turned out to be the match of the day. Grace hit early, with Victor Edoho finishing confidently in the 8th minute. They extended their lead in the 34th minute through Samuel Elliot, whose strike gave them a 2–0 cushion going into the half. Faith, however, refused to go down without a fight. In the 50th minute, Derek Kariboye pulled one back for Faith, thanks to a beautifully timed through ball from Success Ademoye. Despite a spirited push from Faith, Grace held firm. The match featured a single caution, Sam Ezeji of Grace for an intentional handball. Both teams had to rely on emergency goalkeepers, with Perfect Emefesi of Peace FC filling in for Faith and Henry Aluede of Light FC stepping in for Grace. The game was officiated in the first half by Segun Hassan and in the second half by Gbenga Oni, with Kelechi Amadi and Akinwale O. serving as assistant referees. Musa Idrissu was absent, and Abiodun Oyelami did not attend in his oversight role.

The final fixture of the day kicked off at 10:30 a.m. between Joy FC and Peace FC. Joy took an early lead through Kazi, but Peace responded quickly with goals from Ade and Hassan, the latter assisted by Femi. The match was particularly heated in the first half, with loud protests and rising tempers from both sides. At halftime, planning committee member Mr. Kevin met with both captains, after which a series of yellow cards were handed out early in the second half for dissent. Official cautions were recorded for Marvin of Joy and Kinging of Peace, with other unsportsmanlike conduct noted for off-field players. Despite the tension, the game settled into a competitive rhythm and Peace walked away with a 2–1 win, their first of the season.

By the end of the day, the standings saw Grace and Love at the top with perfect records. Peace bounced back to mid-table with their first victory, while Light and Joy are still searching for momentum.

With more matches ahead, eyes are now on whether Grace and Love can maintain their leads, and if Faith, Joy, or Light can mount a comeback. For now, the PP Soccer League continues to live up to its spirit,  a blend of community connection and competitive fire.
